Innovation at GE Healthcare
GE Healthcare, Life Science offers solutions to support customer needs from biological research to clinical therapy, including tools for research, drug discovery, diagnostics, and bioprocessing. This talk looks at principles of innovation in GE and how technology impacts business models. At GE Healthcare, innovation is based on the principles of validating learning and experimentation. Innovation is an acutely human experience. The talk will discuss the validated learning system and highlight how this can relate to patient care both inside and outside the hospital.
Fiona Fitzgerald is the National Zone Leader for GE Healthcare Canada, Life Science. She has been employed with GE in Canada since 1995. She also worked in the UK and the US with GE. She has long been involved with Academic/Industrial partnerships since her first role technology transfer liaison for Cambridge University and GE.
Along with a Bachelor degree in Applied Biochemical Sciences, she also has a post graduate Diploma in Management Sciences. She is also a graduate member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. Fiona was awarded the Leadership Excellence Award in 2008, and was nominated for an Echo Award in 2004, which is a marketing campaign award in the United States for a frequent buyer campaign she set up.
Fiona sits on various Government of Canada Federal committees including NSERC`s CREATE (Collaborative Research and Training Experience) program and several NSERC Centre of Excellence Evaluation committees. In 2014 she chaired the CREATE committee.
For short-term, Fiona’s mission is to better develop the Life Sciences portfolio of GE in Canada. In order to achieve that goal, she is actively contributing to stem cell, monoclonal antibody development, inflammation and infectious diseases partnerships. Her future long-term goal is to take on more challenges for better growth and development and she is actively improving her French language skills.
Fiona is actively involved in her community and volunteers with several local organisations. She is also an active mentor of the GE Womens group. As a mentor in GE she helps junior level women in the organization find their career path.
